ECG-66 is a synthetic grease that is specially designed for conducting electrical current. This amber, semi-solid grease serves to protect against electrical failure that results from moisture damage and corrosive buildup. This tough grease stays in its place, firmly resisting water washout; even the most severe industrial environments cannot cause ECG-66 to fail. Offering numerous applications and usages, ECG-66 is a multi-use product that protects electrical connections against wear while providing excellent conductivity. One example of ECG-66’s many usages is found in marine applications, such as applying this grease to new boat batteries and also reapplying it at the beginning of each boating season (following winter storage). This long-lasting synthetic electric contact grease can keep contacts and connectors from becoming contaminated, resulting longer intervals between required cleaning and maintenance. This smooth, clean grease can be applied to conductive moving parts and, in our estimation, is the product of choice for application onto switches, control valve pins, terminals, voltage regulators, and more.

At Superior, we know that proper battery and terminal connector preparation is important. Oxidation frequently occurs at high temperatures, and even a small amount of oxidation on the metal surfaces of wire connectors can significantly reduce the amount of flowing current. Dangerous heat can build up on the connectors because of this oxidized blockage, which can result in an unnecessary overabundance of power consumption and a seriously minimized running time. In such electrical contact environments, ECG-66 serves to lower the temperature and preempt oxidation from occurring. Thus, applying this synthetic electric contact grease may actually extend your equipment’s battery life.

ECG-66 is available in 14 ounce cartridges, 48 pound containers, and 120 pound containers. This NLGI grade 2 grease is has a worked penetration (ASTM D-217) of 169-195, an oxidation stability (ASTM D-942) of -1 (psi drop @ 100 hours), a rust preventative (ASTM D-1743) rating of 1a, and a water washout (ASTM D-1264) of 0.9. Its flash point is 356°F (180°C) (min), specific gravity is 0.88 @ (15.6/15.6C), and viscosity cSt is 5-6 at 212°F (100°C).
