Application Instructions

Proper surface preparation is important to ensure optimal adhesion. Clean the surface of all debris, dust, and dirt, and remove any foreign materials that may be present on the surface (such as grease, oil, mildew, and rust). Scrub the roof with a solution of TSP (Trisodium Phosphate) and water. Take off mildew and mold by using a bleach solution (3 parts water: 1 part chlorine bleach). Rinse completely and let dry.

The application temperature minimum is 60°F (15.5°C) and rising. If the temperature is predicted to drop below 60°F (15.5°C) within a 24 hour period, do not apply. Also, do not apply is rain is imminent or forecasted within a 24 hour period. If the area is one in which fog or dew is prone to accumulate in the evening, coat in the morning and complete by early afternoon (3:00 pm) in order to prevent wash off (which occurs if fog, dew, or rain moves in before the coating is dry)

To apply, thoroughly stir the pail and apply via 4 inch paint brush. Place a 6 inch wide coating along the cracks, seams, or vent areas. Roll in #403 Reinforcing Fabric while roof patch is still wet. Use the paint brush to smooth out the fabric, and brush on another layer of Flex Patch 400 on top of the fabric while it is all still wet. Ensure that #403 Reinforcing Fabric is thoroughly embedded in the Flex Patch 400 material. Let the patch material dry entirely before adding Energy Star Kote. Do not allow material to dry on tools; for clean-up, simply wash with water.

Recommended To Be Used With #403 Reinforcing Fabric

When repairing larger cracks or crevices, we recommend that you use Flex Patch 400 in combination with #403 Reinforcing Fabric. #403 Reinforcing Fabric is a strong, resin treated glass patching fabric that is specially designed for patching holes and cracks ¼ inch wide or wider. #403 Reinforcing Fabric is simply laid into the coating created by Flex Patch 400 while it is still wet, serving to reinforce the patchwork and add dependability to the repair. This superior quality white fabric was formulated for use where non asphalt base coatings (such as white cements and coatings) require white fabric for satisfactory appearance. Maximum durability of repairs is achieved when you add #403 Reinforcing Fabric to Flex Patch 400. It is available in 4 inch by 50 foot rolls. This easy to apply reinforcing fabric is ideal for repairs on seams, cracks, flashings, gutters, and blisters

Recommended Before Application Of Energy Star Kote

The first of its kind, Energy Star Kote is a pure white coating that forms a sturdy-but-flexible protective membrane over rooftop surfaces, guarding roofs from the elements and simultaneously lowering internal temperatures (thanks to its excellent reflectivity) – resulting in significant energy savings of up to 35%. This pure white, 100% acrylic elastomeric coating forms a rubber membrane can be applied over a variety of roof materials, including EPDM roofs, APP and SBS modified bitumen, old asphalt coatings, composition build-up, polyurethane foam, mobile homes and RV’s, metal roofs, concrete, wood, and more. This 10 year protective roof coating is Energy Star rated and is available in 1 gallon pails and 5 gallon pails.
