Superior’s #8450 Thread Compound is an environmentally friendly, non-hardening, petroleum based thread sealant and anti-seize. #8450 Thread Compound is made with PTFE (Teflon^®) and is also widely used as a lubricant. This product contains no metallic particles and is off white in color. It has a thick paste like texture and can be used in a variety of applications. This premium product provides superior leak proof protection for threaded connections allowing them to be used and reused multiple times. #8450 Thread Compound also acts as an anti-seize protecting against rust, corrosion, galling and seizing of metal surfaces. This product also provides outstanding water resistance and adheres extremely well to surfaces even after they have been exposed to oil and other petroleum based lubricants.

#8450 Thread Compound is excellent for use on stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, fiberglass, copper, brass, iron, PVC, CPVC, and ABS. It is a superior compound for helping to seal new threads as well as extremely worn threads. This product is specially engineered to with stand extreme temperature, contraction, expansion, high torque and violent vibration.

#8450 Thread Compound is approved by the United States Department of Agriculture for use in all federally inspected meat and poultry plants with a USDA rating of H-2. This product is safe for stainless steel and other sensitive alloys including aluminum, brass, iron, and copper. Superior’s #8450 Thread Compound has a temperature rating as a solid from -30°F (-34°C) to +500°F (260°C) and has a temperature rating of 5°F (-15°C) to +500°F (260°C) as a base oil.

#8450 Thread Compound can be used safely on all pipe threads where protection and sealing is vital. It is ideal for pipe fittings, pipe threads, fire suppression systems, steam valves, value stem packings, pump packings and much more. This product provides instant sealing and allows for tighter make-up at lower torque. It even provides easier breakout without galling, stripping, or other significant damage to threads. Generally, this product is unaffected by most fuels, gases, oils, acids, caustics, and other common solvents.

For jobs that requires higher temperatures as well as environmentally and safety friendly consciousness, try Superiors ASC–1100 Non Metallic. This Anti Seize contains no metals and offers protection up to + 2400°F (1316°C).

#8450 Thread Compound is packaged in three convenient easy to apply options. This product is available in a brush top one pint can which can be purchased in two, six, twelve and twenty-four packs. #8450 Thread Compound can also be purchased in a ten pound (one gallon) cans and a forty pound (five gallon) cans. As with all petroleum base products, these lubricants should NOT be used in oxygen service.
