Invisible Sealer For Masonry

DuraShield #7

  • Stops Moisture Penetration
  • Does Not Alter Surface Appearance

10 Year Protection

DuraShield #7 is an invisible sealer for masonry that provides long-term protection for up to 10 years. Containing a mix of silane and siloxane, this water repellent is designed for use in the most severe environments – such as parking garages and commercial buildings, and anywhere there are exposed, unglazed masonry surfaces. After DuraShield #7 is applied, the masonry surface will become highly resistant to: water intrusion, salt intrusion, weathering, spalling, staining, efflorescence, water borne chemicals, acid rain, mildews, fungi, and freeze-thaw scaling.

Offers Protection Against:

Water Intrusion • Salt Intrusion • Weathering
• Spalling • Staining • Efflorescence
• Water Borne Chemicals • Acid Rain
• Mildews • Fungi • Freeze-Thaw Scaling

Use On:

Architectural Concrete • Precast Or Cast-In-Place Concrete
•  Structural Concrete • Commercial Parking Garages
•  Exposed Aggregate Products •  Stucco
•  Mortars •  Concrete Masonry Units
•  Portland Cement •  Brick Masonry (non-glazed)
•  Flagstones & Pavers (non-glazed)•  Limestone • Sandstone

This invisible sealer for masonry does not alter surface appearance and is ideal for use on most exterior, above-grade surfaces – whether vertical or horizontal. Use DuraShield #7 wherever maximum chloride ion protection is needed, such as on: architectural concrete, precast or cast-in-place concrete, structural concrete, commercial parking garages, exposed aggregate products, stucco, mortars, concrete masonry units, Portland cement, brick masonry (non-glazed), flagstones and pavers (non-glazed), limestone, and sandstone.

DuraShield #7 is a V.O.C. compliant, water-based blend that contains an optimized 20% blend of silane and siloxane. It is non-glossy and will not alter the color or surface texture of the natural substrate. This architectural grade sealer is 100% water vapor permeable and, unlike solvent-based products, is not hazardous. DuraShield #7 prevents moisture from seeping into concrete and also keeps damaging ice melting compounds from penetrating into concrete, making it especially ideal for use in parking garages where de-icing chemicals are required in order to protect from extreme moisture.

  • Easy To Apply
  • Withstands Salt & Deicing Chemicals

10 Year Protection

This invisible sealer for masonry reacts with minerals in concrete when ultraviolet light and atmospheric moisture are present, and it forms permanent bonds below the surface. These strong bonds create a hydrophobic zone and help prevent water penetration, yet still allow water vapors to move through freely. DuraShield #7 is able to penetrate concrete pores up to ¼ inch or more.

(Note that the depth of penetration depends on the porosity of the surface and the amount of moisture present at the time of application.)

DuraShield #7 is available in 5, 30, and 55 gallon

containers and comes ready to use – just spray, brush, or roll it on. Its coverage ranges from 80-150 sq. ft. per gallon per coat, depending on the porosity of the surface. (Note that scored, fluted, and split-face block treatments require more product because of increased surface area.) This invisible sealer for masonry can be applied on vertical or horizontal surfaces with a low pressure sprayer or deep nap roller. Its drying time is 1-2 hours to touch, depending on the variables of temperature and humidity.

If DuraShield #7 is applied correctly and under the right conditions, it should exhibit a water repellent effect for 10 years.

Instructions:

DuraShield #7 is not intended for use on asphalt surfaces, glazed brick, marble, tiles, exterior below grade surfaces, or for hydrostatic pressure resistance. We recommend that you do not apply DuraShield #7 to surfaces which are frozen or frost covered, and that you test this invisible sealer for masonry on a small area before treating any surface so as to guarantee the proper results and determine the rate of coverage. Both the air temperature and surface temperature should be between 40°F (4.4°C) and 100°F (37.8°C) and remain in that range for two hours following application. Keep DuraShield #7 from freezing. See product label for more detailed application instructions.
